The Toughbook in new Car-27 is being tested with a built-in demo barcode reader that can scan driver’s license data into the Central Square Pro Suite software for eCitations.  This will eliminate the need for a separate handheld reader that uses the last remaining USB port.  The built-in barcode reader is located on the left side of the Toughbook as shown in the image below.

When you press the Activation Button, the Reader will scan for a barcode for up to 8 seconds or until it successfully scans a barcode.

While the reader is scanning for a barcode, it will project a red “guide” as shown in image below to help you properly align the barcode to be scanned.
 

Move the barcode so the center crosshair is over the barcode, and the scanner should read the data from the barcode and populate the fields for the eCitation.
